Without True Satguru

Sixth Satguru, Guru Hargobind Sahib ji Maharaj, during his stay at Daroli Bhai ki, one day went for Hunting in nearby Jungles. As Satguruji and Jatha of Sikhs reached jungle and started hunting, there came a heavy sound, like of a trumpet. The sound was coming from bushes nearby, and as Sikhs moved forward to see what was making noise, they saw a large python lying in bushes and groaning with pain. Satguruji rode his horse towards the big snake and ordered a Sikh to kill it and relieve it of its pain. A Sikh moved forward and killed the snake, and as he died, Satguruji smiled. Gursikhs asked Maharaj, from your smile, we can understand that there is a game of higher realms which has been played here, which we lowly jeevs don’t understand. Please enlighten us about what has happened.

               Guru Hargobind Sahib ji maharaj smiled and said, Beloved Gursikhs, this snake was a human in previous birth and pretended to be a holy man, a Sant, and looted hundreds of thousands of people of their money, their honour and their faith in his previous life. He was not a Satguru or Saint, but with help of Ridhi-Sidhi accumulated with power of Jap-tap, he pretended to be one. But he couldn’t liberate himself or his disciples and due to his greed of money, he came back in form of a Snake.  Sikhs asked Maharaj, if he couldn’t liberate himself and his disciples, where are his disciples? Maharaj asked a Sikh to turn snake’s body upside down with his spear and Sikh did same. There were thousands of ants and worms who were eating up snake’s body, causing him pain. Maharaj said ‘ these ants and worms are the disciples of this fake guru who have come back in form of these worms to extract what he had looted from them in previous life’.

           This saakhi has been well recorded in all Granths, and shared by nearly every Mahapurakh and Giani. But do we as Sikhs have learnt anything from it? Till today we have Sikhs who go to fake gurus, babas and pakhandis, losing their wealth to greed of these greedy men, their values, their faith, their purity, their dedication to truth and Sikhi of Guru Granth Sahib ji. We have Sikhs who go to Radhaswamis, Sarsewala, Naamdharis, Narkdharis and others cults and sects, leaving path of Gursikhi of Guru Granth Sahib ji. Ask any of their followers and they have a common answer, ‘what our Guruji or Babaji says is written in baani of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. In our Babaji’s dera, Baani is read and discussed, so what is wrong in going to them?’ And it’s true. 99% cults and sects started with their Babas keeping Guru Granth Sahib ji’s saroop in their deras and places. Till today, 95% fake babey in Punjab have saroop of Guru Granth Sahib ji parkash in their deras and homes, but is parkash of Guru Granth Sahib ji and reading of Baani of Guru Granth Sahib ji enough when 99% things going on are against Gursikhi and Gurmat? No, it is not, still Sikhs go to fake gurus, babey and pakhandi sadhus. I have seen Amritdhari Sikhs sitting in deras of radhaswamis and Sarsewala. Can they be called Amritdhari Gursikhs? No, they cannot be called Gursikhs or Khalsa, they may seem like Amritdharis or Sikhs, but they are not. They are not sons and daughters of Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj, but slaves of Pakhandi Gurus and Babas.

                      Why a Sikh needs to go to a baba or sadhu? Don’t we have Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj, our Jaagdi Jot Satguru ji to guide us? Don’t we have Shaheed Singhs of Guru to guide us? Don’t we have Gursikh parcharaks who can help us understand Baani and Gurmat with their Katha and Kirtan? We have, then why a Sikh has to become a Chela of someone who comes between a Sikh and his/her Guru? Why a Sikh needs guidance from someone else when the Merciful Satguruji stands on his/her Sikhs head and makes him understand Baani and Gurmat himself. What does Guru mean? Teacher, master ….so isn’t our Guru capable of, able enough to make us understand Baani, Truth and unite us with Waheguru? Guru is capable, but we Sikhs have lost the Prem, Shardha, dedication and faith on Guru, this is the reason we are suffering, this is the reason we are divided and confused. Maharaj says in Baani-
ਕਬੀਰ ਸਾਚਾ ਸਤਿਗੁਰੁ ਕਿਆ ਕਰੈ ਜਉ ਸਿਖਾ ਮਹਿ ਚੂਕ ॥
ਅੰਧੇ ਏਕ ਨ ਲਾਗਈ ਜਿਉ ਬਾਂਸੁ ਬਜਾਈਐ ਫੂਕ ॥158॥
Kabeer, what can the True Guru do, when His Sikhs are at fault?
The blind do not take in any of His Teachings; it is as useless as blowing into bamboo. ||158||

                    There is no harm in going to educated and Naam abhyaasi gursikhs to discuss gurbaani if we don’t understand something, there is no harm in doing sangat of a naam abhyaasi gursikh who will tell us about Gurbaani, help us understand Baani and history better, so that our spiritual jeevan is uplifted, but there is no way a Sikh can have blind faith on some one whose teachings contradict Baani of Guru Granth Sahib ji and Jeevans of Brahmgiani Mahapurakhs who have won this game of love, as it is Brahmgiani Mahapurakhs who have lived Baani all their life. Just to clear the point regarding satkaar of Brahmgiani Mahapurakhs, these Mahapurakh Sons of Guru Gobind Singh ji should be respected from heart, as they are Mahapurakhs who have spent their life in service of Panth, helping Sikhs in times of distress, preaching truth of Guru’s Baani to world without expecting anything in return from people, taking pain and suffering of Panth on themselves and feeling pain of entire Panth as their own and giving their lives for Panth instead sitting uselessly like Hindu yogis. Those were the Mahapurakhs who never claimed to be close to Waheguru (which they were), never claimed to ‘Talk to Guru Gobind Singh ji everyday’, never asked people to believe in them as Sant or Baba or Godman. These Mahapurakhs lived Baani in their lives, never talked out of Baani and never cursed anyone (like some so-called pakhandis do today). Such Gursikhs of past and present need to be given full respect and honour as it is Maharaj’s khushi when his beloved Gursikhs are honoured and respected. But in today’s age of Kalyug, it is very difficult and hard to distinguish between truths and false, so it is better to believe in Only Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj and Shaheed Singhs of Panth (who have proved their love for Guru with their blood).

                    Guru Gobind Singh ji Sahib had warned us 300 years back, of times such as today, when Pakhandis would go out in thousands and loot people’s wealth, destroy their faith and dedication. This was the reason Maharaj asked Sikhs to believe only in Guru Granth Sahib ji , and no one else. Most of us might have heard about the incident where Guru Gobind Singh ji burned alive 700 Masands at Anandpur Sahib. Fifth Satguru Guru Arjan Dev ji started system of Masands, who were deputed to collect Daswandh and other offerings of Sikhs and present them to Guruji. As the time went by, Masands grew stronger and stronger, at times even challenging authority of Guru Sahibs. During Tenth Satguruji’s time, corruption of Masands was at its highest, with sangat from all over the world complaining to Satguruji about high-handedness of Masands, their arrogant and insulting attitude and their misdeeds. Masands used to force poor Sikhs into giving them money, clothes, food and jewels and if some Sikh refused, they used to threaten the Sikhs with ‘Shraap’ (Curse). Frightened by authority Guruji gave to Masands, Sikhs had to fulfil demands of Masands. When Guru Gobind Singh ji came to know about evil ways of Masands, misuse of power given by Guru, Maharaj asked Gursikhs to tie and bring all the Masands to him. 700 Masands were captured and brought to Guruji. Here Guruji put oil in a large cauldron (Deg) and boiled alive the evil masands in that oil. Some were burnt alive on orders of Guruji. Isn’t this amazing? Fifth Satguru ji gives power and authority to Masands but tenth Satguruji burns them alive at Anandpur Sahib and then orders Sikhs in his Hukamnaama ‘not to have any relation with Masands’. Why? What was the reason Satguruji did that? Reason was Guru’s Love for his Sikh. It was a direct lesson by Guru Gobind Singh ji to Sikhs of all the times that whoever will ever try to come between Sikh and Guru, try to act as a middleman between a Sikh and Guru will face the same consequences.  It was proof of Guru Gobind Singh ji’s love to his Sikhs that Maharaj will himself take care of his each and every Sikh, without any need of middleman. And then Maharaj ordered Sikhs not to have any relation with Masands in his Hukamnaamas. Who were these Masands? Maharaj knew, that in all times, there are people who try to act as middlemen between Sikh and Guru, who try to exploit Faith and Love of Sikhs, loot their wealth and money, misuse their faith and love, such people are known as Masands. Maharaj asked his Sikhs to beware of such people and asked Sangat of all times to create a bond of Love with Guru directly, without any middlemen. That was the time Guruji made his Sangat ‘ KHALSA’. (Khalsa in Persian means a territory directly under control of Emperor , with no minister, general or governor having any authority or control over it.) Guru Gobind Singh ji made his Sangat ‘Khalsa’, directly under orders of Guru, without any middlemen.
ਗੁਰ ਸੰਗਤਿ ਕੀਨੀ ਖ਼ਾਲਸਾ ਮਨਮੁਖੀ ਦੁਹੇਲਾ ।
ਵਾਹ ਵਾਹ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਆਪੇ ਗੁਰ ਚੇਲਾ ॥ 1 ॥

        Are we Khalsa? Ask yourself this question and see within yourself, are we directly under command of Guru Gobind Singh ji? But these Masands are still around. Some started off with keeping Guru Granth Sahib ji in their places, and when Sangat increased, they removed Maharaj’s parkash and became Gurus themselves (i.e – Radhswami, Nirankaari, Sarsewala etc.).
 There are hundereds others who have Parkash of Guru Granth Sahib ji Maharaj in their places and in garb of Gursikhi, they carry on their own business, of making money and looting people. Whenever a person does some Jap-Tap, he is bound to have some ridhi-sidhi, but people started using these Ridhi-Sidhi just for their own peronsal use, for making wealth, creating their own paths and becoming Gurus. Guru Gobind Singh ji Sahib has beautifully explained this phenomenon in his dialogue with Akaal Puarkh Waheguru, wherein Waheguru Maharaj tell Satguruji about misuse of power given by him.

ਤਬ ਹਰਿ ਸਿੱਧ ਸਾਧ ਠਹਿਰਾਏ ॥ ਤਿਨ ਭੀ ਪਰਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਨਹੀ ਪਾਏ ॥
ਜੇ ਕੋਈ ਹੋਤ ਭਯੋ ਜਗਿ ਸਿਆਨਾ ॥ ਤਿਨ ਤਿਨ ਅਪਨੋ ਪੰਥੁ ਚਲਾਨਾ ॥ 14॥
ਪਰਮ ਪੁਰਖ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਨਹ ਪਾਯੋ ॥ ਬੈਰ ਬਾਦ ਅਹੰਕਾਰ ਬਢਾਯੋ ॥
ਪੇਡ ਪਾਤ ਆਪਨ ਤੇ ਜਲੈ ॥ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਪੰਥ ਨ ਕੋਊ ਚਲੈ ॥ 15॥
ਜਿਨਿ ਜਿਨਿ ਤਨਿਕ ਸਿੱਧ ਕੋ ਪਾਯੋ ॥ ਤਿਨ ਤਿਨ ਅਪਨਾ ਰਾਹੁ ਚਲਾਯੋ ॥
ਪਰਮੇਸਰ ਨ ਕਿਨਹੂੰ ਪਹਿਚਾਨਾ ॥ ਮਮ ਉਚਾਰਤੇ ਭਯੋ ਦਿਵਾਨਾ ॥ 16॥
Then the Immortal Lord established the accomplished ascetics and the saints.
They too were unsuccessful in realizing the Supreme Lord.
They, who happened to be shrewd in the world, Set up their individual creeds.(14)
None could realize the Supreme Lord.
On the contrary, they spread enmity, conflict and ego.
Just as the tree is ablaze with the fire of its leaves, rubbing each other. (The populace was burning by the fire of spite, enmity and ego.)
But none followed the highway of the Lord.(15)
They, who attained a little spiritual power, Started their individual faiths.
And none recognized the Supreme Lord. Rather such people became mad with ego.(16)

              With the power given by Satguruji, these people start distorting Baani and Sikhi, creating their individual groups and cults. What more ninda and beadbi of Guru Granth Sahib ji could be done, then keeping Satguruji as a source of looting innocent but stupid people? And Amritdhari Gursikhs are no exception. There are Babas out there with round turbans and different chole, showing off as Gursikhs and looting people coming to them, taking over their minds by claiming to talk to Guru Gobind Singh ji and pursuing their own evil motives. I have come across many such people in my life, who in hope of making me their chela and becoming a middleman between me and my Satguruji, have tried their best by using all the means possible. But it has been Maharaj’s kirpa, despite all the bad phases in life, all the sufferings I have undergone, I never accepted ANY Dehdhari as a middleman between me and my Guru. My Sikhi, my Love, my relation to my Guru is based on Satguruji’s Kirpa. Sikhi belongs to Guru, and this thread of Love, which Guru has held in his hands, can never be broken, because Satguruji is merciful and merciful Satguru is holding an unbreakable thread. A Sikh can be weak at times, but Guru never gives up on his Sikh. It is Guru’s Kirpa with which he takes out his Sikh from hardest of times, with his Sikhi and faith intact. And such a Sikh, whose life Guru holds in his hands, can never go far from Guru. But this is game of Love, and not everyone plays it and not everyone understands it. Only those who are blessed by Satguruji and Immortal souls of Shaheeds can emerge victorious in this, not those who leave Guru, forget Guru’s bachans, and back out from Ardas done at Guru’s feet. They can never experience the Ras of Guru’s Love.

                  Guru Gobind Singh ji warned his Sikhs of these situations, and said that those who’ll stick to feet of Guru Granth Sahib ji will always stay in Charhdi kala, but those who’ll wander around will never attain peace. And where is peace for a Sikh except in Guru’s Charan? Ask those who go to fakers, ask them, do they have peace? Do they feel love of Guru and Waheguru? Do they feel mercy of Guru? Do they feel uplifted and close to God, to peace, to joy? Answer will be NO. Because baani of Guru Granth Sahib ji clearly states

ਖਸਮੁ ਛੋਡਿ ਦੂਜੈ ਲਗੇ ਡੁਬੇ ਸੇ ਵਣਜਾਰਿਆ ॥
ਸਤਿਗੁਰੂ ਹੈ ਬੋਹਿਥਾ ਵਿਰਲੈ ਕਿਨੈ ਵੀਚਾਰਿਆ ॥
Those dealers who abandon their Lord and Master and attach themselves to another, are drowned.
The True Guru is the boat, but few are those who realize this.

                    I’ll not talk about others, I myself have come across people who misguide people in name of Guru and Sikhi, who, in their ego and pride of mental powers have tried to take over my mind, who, to fulfil their ulterior motives have tried to misguide me and take me down from path of Sikhi, and mind it, these people are not holy, not spiritual, within them lies demons of evil, which doesn’t let them be in peace, which keeps in them fire of Haume and Ahankaar burning. I have had my experiences with such people, and one such was with a Baba who asked me to ‘leave my past life’s relations and commitments’ (My parents, my mission, my home and my beliefs). I refused, and the person tried his best to bring me down, by misusing his Ridhi-Sidhis, and in the process he succeeded, by making my body and mind suffer, by taking away from me some things I valued and I Loved, which meant a lot to me, but after going through a hard battle of suffering, Guru Gobind Singh ji’s Kirpa saved me, took me out of the hell I was in, saved my Sikhi and my Faith. The Baba wanted me to be his chela, and I was stubborn not to be chela of anyone except Guru Granth Sahib ji and Shaheed Singhs of Guru, and there was a battle. In this battle, I didn’t have powers like him, but I had my Guru, Shaheed Singhs to help me and protect me and I was saved, scars of that time are still there on my body and my mind, and my health took a severe beating due to this, but I learnt some lessons out of that. Biggest lesson was, a Sikh should completely avoid going to anyone who claims to be a Sant- Sadhu and Baba, flaunts his powers openly, and tries to be a middleman between you and guru, as middleman is equal to Masand. Had I not gone to his place, I would not have gone through the hell I went through, and that was the lesson, that when a Sikh places his hopes on anyone except his Guru, his Father, His best friend, Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj, that Sikh is bound to suffer. I understood it, some people didn’t. And some people will never understand, with their blind faith in blind people, which will eventually lead them to dark pit of hell, the fire where no one will come to save them. Just like that snake and the ants eating him up, all these pakhandis out there, and the people who leave True Satguru, Guru Granth Sahib ji, will suffer one day. It may look that these people who go to fakes are happy, joyous, prosperous from outside, but deep inside, deep somewhere, they are blank, they are empty, and they are life-less. And Gursikhs maybe going through hard times, suffering, but Gursikhs have a bright future. Suffering on path of Guru makes a Gursikh firm in his faith and his ideals, the suffering gives power to Gursikh to walk more firmly on this path of love. This is the power of Guru’s Love.

                        Today the Panth is broken and divided and weakened, reason is, we Sikhs have left our faith in Satguru Guru Granth Sahib ji. We see Guru Granth Sahib ji as a book, nothing else, we don’t fear Guru, we don’t Love Guru, we don’t keep up our commitments and Ardas to Guru, we have lost the respect and Love for Guru Sahib. And when a Sikh loses Love and faith, he becomes empty from inside, weakened, and anyone can finish that Sikh. This is what has happened in villages and cities of Punjab. We lost our faith and Love for Guru Granth Sahib ji, Our Gurus and our Shaheeds, and when we broke away from them and their ideals, we got weak. It was this weakness of ideals and morals, of faith and dedication which has turned us into slaves, slaves of Governments, slaves of pakhandi Babey and Gurus, slaves of evil. Which power was able to finish or overpower Sikhs of 18th century? No one. Only reason was, Sikhs of those times had their loyalty to Only Guru Granth Sahib ji and Panth. It was Guru and Panth which mattered to those Sikhs, not their personal lives or thinkings. Those Sikhs never went to pakhandi Gurus and Babas for having male-childs, for business and prosperity and for getting peace of mind. Instead, they were courageous enough to sacrifice their small sons, babies for Guru. They left their homes and lands and preferred living in Jungles just for Guru and Sikhi. They took peace from Baani and Naam of Guru, from their sacrifice, from their love and devotion to Guru, not from yogis and sadhus.

                    And in the end, those Sikhs won. If we Sikhs of today want to be in Charhdi Kala, wish to have our own Khalsa Raaj, wish to have a strong and prosperous Sikh society and Nation, we will have to leave evils of mind behind and devote ourself to our Beloved Satguruji. We will have to go out in villages and cities and awaken and enlighten our Sikh brothers and sisters to come back to feet of Guru Granth Sahib ji. We will have to give the message of Guru’s Love to Sikhs, and Sikhs will have to give up their greed and their ego, and come to feet of Guru Granth Sahib ji. Which is the object we cannot have from Guru Granth Sahib ji, peace, prosperity, children, wealth, everything is there in Guruji’s feet, its just our way of asking which we need to change. Guru is always merciful; it’s just Sikh who doesn’t know how to get his paap forgiven from Guru. The day each and every Sikh commits himself/herself to Guru Granth Sahib ji, to charhdi kala of Panth, to the mission of Shaheed Singhs, these small worldly things will not matter. These fakers were there in times of Guru Nanak dev ji, they were there during Guru Arjan Devji and times of Guru Gobind Singh ji, they were there during times of Baba Deep Singh ji and Baba Mani Singh ji, but they didn’t come forward to serve humanity, to defend the poor and helpless, to stand up for Truth and Dharam. Where were they? And today when there is Adharam and Paap all over, innocents and poor suffer, hunger and poverty rule, where are these so-called Gurus and Babas?  During these times also, it was one and only Sant-Sipahi Khalsa, Son of Guru Gobind Singh ji, Sant Jarnail Singh ji who stood up for Dharam.

                   I can go on and on writing on this topic, and I plan to write some follow-up articles on this issue, which is the BIGGEST issue concerning Khalsa panth today, as these pakhandis have divided and destroyed power of Panth with their evil deeds, but someday, with kirpa of Satguru Guru Granth Sahib ji, people will realize the truth. Only thing I worry for is, what if that day is too late, then the story of Snake and ants will be repeated. Guru Gobind Singh Sahib ji told about fal these fakes will get one day

ਦੋਹਰਾ ॥
ਭੇਖ ਦਿਖਾਇ ਜਗਤ ਕੋ ਲੋਗਨ ਕੋ ਬਸਿ ਕੀਨ ॥
ਅੰਤ ਕਾਲ ਕਾਤੀ ਕਟਿਓ ਬਾਸੁ ਨਰਕ ਮੋ ਲੀਨ ॥ 56॥

Those (fraudulent persons) who, in the world, display different (artificial) guises to win the people over;
Ultimately, they will be chopped down by the dagger of Death and will get their resting place in hell.(56)
