Legend of 'Shaheed' Baba Raam Singh Bedi -1

Sri Maan Baba Raam Singh ji Bedi was  descendant of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji Maharaj. After Guru Gobind Singh ji ordered Baba Kaladhaari, 8th descendant of Guru Nanak dev ji to take Amrit, all the Bedis took Khande Baate da Amrit and became Singhs. Baba Raam Singh ji was younger son of Baba Kaladhaari ji and uncle of Baba Sahib Singh ji Bedi. He had his cantonment in Kotli village, District Gujarat, on banks of river Raavi.  In Naveen Panth Parkash, Mahaan Jeevan and Shaheedi of Baba Raam Singh ji has been described in detail. We would like to share with Sangat the illustrious life of Babaji, the Japi-Tapi-Sant-Sipahi Singh of Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj.

(Sri Raam Singh Bedi was the one who couldn’t be pierced (by Maaya and Vikaars)
Was a knower of glory of Ten Gurus and very compassionate)

(Everyone has seen Village Kotli in District of Gujarat,
Here he made his abode and lived in Peace)

(Wherever and whenever Panth faced battles, He used to fight in frontlines
He carried great spiritual and mystical powers within him).

(It is said,’ even dogs of Guru have miraculous powers,
But he was Son of Guru, why wouldn’t he carry powers?)

Elder son of Baba Kaldhaari was Baba Ajeet Singh, father of Baba Sahib Singh ji Bedi. They lived in Una Sahib. Baba Raam Singh ji was highly spiritual gurmukh, above the attachment, greed and vices of world, so he joined ‘Shaheed Jatha’ of Baba Deep Singh ji Maharaj and got the title of ‘Shaheed’. Baba Deep Singh ji and all other mukhi Singhs of Jatha respected Baba Raam Singh ji for his Awastha, his love for Guru and Panth.

(Baba Raam Singh ji had a strong Jatha of Singhs with him,
Who meditated in bliss and fought battles for Panth).

(He was one of senior Singhs in ‘Shaheed Jatha’ of Baba Deep Singh ji,
For this reason, he was known as ‘Shaheed’ in Panth.)

{Note- All the Singhs of Jatha Shaheedan of Baba Deep Singh ji carried title of Shaheed}

Weaponary of Baba Raam Singh ji and other Singhs of ‘Shaheed Jatha’-

(On his shoulder he carried a mighty Bow, on other a large stick (Dand, Salottar) and Sharp Chakkars ,
The Chakkars, which decorated his body and made it unbreakable)

(His Kamar-kasa was full with Jambhia (claw shaped Kataars), Pesh-Kabj and bullets
All types of explosives were said to be in his possession)

(Elders used to tell, Babaji and Others (Shaheed Singhs),
Had Kamar-kasse which weighed around 100 Kgs.)

(There were many more intelligent and humble Singhs in Panth,
Who were Brave, Mighty and Supreme)

This brotherhood of fearless warriors called Shaheed Jatha had a rigorous schedule of Naam, Baani, Shastar-Abhyaas and other arts. Carrying different weapons, weapons made to kill and destroy, they were Khalsa Saint-Soldiers, a form of Guru Gobind Singh ji Maharaj himself, who lived Sikhi with every breath who lived on this planet with Waheguru’s beautiful and sweet name in their heart. They fought to defend Dharam, Poor, help-less and weak. They killed in compassion and died for giving life to life-less. The weight of weapons they carried in their Kamar-kassa alone was more than 100 Kgs, but more than that, they carried weight of humanity on their shoulders, giving their blood to relieve mother earth of load of sins that had accumulated on it from ages.
